The Science of 24K Gold in Skincare
When it comes to Golden Beauty skincare, you're not just choosing a precious metal that looks great as jewelry. You're choosing a youth-renewing, soothing beauty ritual that has been tried and true for centuries.
What gold does for your skin, what dermatologists say about it, and what the published research shows, with every source linked.
Gold has been a beauty secret for thousands of years
Dating back to Cleopatra and Ancient Egypt, gold was a highly valued beauty ingredient. Romans and the royal courts of China and Japan also used gold in their beauty rituals, and Cleopatra is famously said to have slept in a golden mask to keep her skin youthful and radiant.
Gold also has a real place in medicine. Doctors have used gold-based compounds, a treatment called chrysotherapy, for their anti-inflammatory effects. Today, scientists are studying gold at the nanoparticle level to understand how it interacts with skin.
Why 24K? Unlike 10K, 14K or 18K gold, which are alloys mixed with other metals, 24K gold is more than 99% pure. Every Golden Beauty product features real 24K gold flakes.
Oxidation: the hidden cause of fine lines
Oxidation is a chemical reaction that produces free radicals, unstable molecules that damage normal, healthy skin cells. Sun, pollution and everyday stress all add to them.
Over time, this damage breaks down your collagen and depletes your elastin, the protein that forms the main part of the elastic connective tissue in the dermis of your skin. This is a major cause of wrinkles, fine lines and other signs of aging.
Antioxidants help slow this process down. Gold is famous for never rusting or tarnishing, and research shows that fine gold particles also act as antioxidants, helping defend skin against free radicals [1] [2]. Our formulas pair gold with more antioxidants, including green tea extract and vitamins C and E.
How gold works on your skin
Each benefit below is matched to the research behind it. Numbers in brackets point to the full source list at the bottom of this page.
Radiance & glow
Gold reflects light, which evens out and brightens the look of skin tone, adding a radiant, luminous glow right away. Dermatologists call this gold's most clearly established benefit.
Sources [9] [10]Antioxidant protection
Free radicals from sun and pollution are a major driver of visible aging. Laboratory studies show gold nanoparticles can neutralize free radicals with low toxicity to cells.
Sources [1] [2] [3]Firmer, plumper-looking skin
By helping protect your skin's collagen, gold supports skin that looks firm and plump while reducing the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Research found gold nanoparticles help block an enzyme that breaks collagen down.
Sources [1] [2]Calming & soothing
Gold has anti-inflammatory properties. If you have sensitive or blemish-prone skin, it can help soothe skin and calm the look of redness. For the full benefit, use it consistently over the long term.
Sources [4] [10] [11]Skin renewal support
Across animal studies, gold nanoparticles sped up skin repair and increased collagen in healing skin. A systematic review of 13 such studies found the benefit in every one.
Sources [4] [5] [6]Purifying & gentle
Gold has shown antibacterial qualities in laboratory research, and gold-based ingredients have shown moisture-retention benefits. Safety studies of gold in face and eye creams found no observable harm to skin cells.

How to use your Golden Collection Set
Our three-step process is simple, easy and effective. Golden Beauty features 24K gold flakes in every product, combined with other antioxidants, leaving a smooth, luminous glow.
Exfoliate
Massage the Deep Peeling Exfoliating Gel over clean, dry skin to lift away dead surface cells, then rinse. This prepares your skin for the deep-moisturizing cream.
Moisturize
Apply the Bio Anti-Wrinkle Cream to deeply hydrate, leaving skin feeling smooth, firm and rejuvenated.
Restore
Lastly, apply the Anti-Aging Eye Serum to hydrate, de-puff and tighten the look of the delicate eye area.
Right after applying, your skin will feel tighter and look more radiant. Those are the things you'll notice first. With consistent use of all three steps, you'll see the look of wrinkles and fine lines reduced, leaving you with a healthy, luminous glow.
